One of the best raid tiers was apparently also one of the easiest raid tiers. Raiders finally got the chance to take down one of Final Fantasy's most iconic summons, Bahamut, in this epic finale to the Binding Coil raid series. My personal favourite in this tier however was Phoenix.

One of my personal favourite raid tiers, the Second Coil of Bahamut was the first raid tier to have a Savage difficulty but this feature was not repeated until the next expansion. However, the Savage difficulty here is unlike the Savage difficulties that raiders would later come to be familiar with. The 'normal' Second Coil of Bahamut would be akin to the Savage difficulty currently experienced since Creator Savage in Heavensward. The Second Coil of Bahamut Savage was a considerable step higher in terms of difficulty. There was no difference to the loot, however the Savage difficulty would offer players titles that were highly coveted back then. The highlight of this tier was no doubt the Nael deus Darnus fight, although Melusine and The Avatar were great fights as well with great right designs.

The very first raid tier of the relaunched MMORPG had a mixed reception. While it was fresh and exciting, the raid did have its flaws. As of patch 4.4 of the Stormblood expansion, this is still the only tier to feature 5 encounters, though T3 cannot really be considered encounter as there is no actual boss to fight. What will be remembered about this tier was that it had some unique stage designs that involved vertical depth. This ultimate also lead to some players exploiting certain features that came from these designs and resulted in future fights to never again have different vertical level arenas. When first introduced, Twintania was regarded to be an impossible fight to beat (without exploits) and required some tweaks by the developers. Still, it took a fairly long while before the FC Order of Blue Garter became the first team to take her down.
